Residents draw Council's attention the severe lack of off-road car parking facilities at the Yeronga Park Pool. By virtue of the Brisbane City Council's own statistics, the Yeronga Park Pool has the highest patronage of any pool complex in Brisbane. However, every day during training and learn to swim sessions, the current parking is fully utilised forcing patrons into surrounding streets, having to cross a busy school road to access the pool. Given that there are a number of small children attending swim sessions, the crossing of busy roads poses a severe safety risk to pool patrons, many of whom are very young children.
Petitioners request an expansion of the current off-road car parking facilities at the pool complex. A simple rearrangement and realignment of existing land would assist in providing the necessary outcome and avoid the current safety risk.
Thank you for your petition requesting that Council expand the current off-street car parking facilities at Yeronga Park Pool, Yeronga.
Council has completed its onsite investigation and has considered your request.
Council has identified the need for an increase in parking availability within Yeronga Memorial Park, Yeronga. A proposal for the expansion of the car park at Yeronga Park Pool, Brisbane Bridge Centre Incorporated and Souths Rugby Union Club Incorporated, is currently listed for consideration for funding in a future capital works budget.
