The State Government (TransLink) set service areas where Brisbane City Council buses operate. Currently, the residential area south of Levitt Road, Upper Kedron, is outside the bus contract area. For residents to access future public transport services, the contract area for bus services needs to include new residential areas in Upper Kedron.
We the undersigned call on the Council to raise this issue with the State Government and suggest that the areas of Palisades and Ellendale, south of Levitt Road, Upper Kedron, be included in the service area for Brisbane City Council bus services so that residents can have regular bus services.
Thank you for your petition requesting the areas of The Palisades and Ellendale, south of Levitt Road, Upper Kedron, be included in the Brisbane City Council bus contract area so that residents can have access to Council bus services. Council notes that the area of Upper Kedron is experiencing residential development and that residents request access to public transport services.
While Council continues to have a major role in operating bus services in Brisbane, TransLink, a division of the Queensland Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads, oversees all public transport delivery in Queensland and has the authority to support or initiate changes to bus services and service areas. Therefore, Council will raise the petitioners’ request directly with TransLink for their consideration.
