Residents draw to the attention of Councillors, that the new ferry terminal to be built at Howard Smith Wharves will offer residents and businesses in Spring Hill and Fortitude Valley convenient access to river-based public transport. However, in 2017 Council removed a section of the footpath along the northern side of Boundary Street which would have provided the shortest walking distance between Spring Hill and the new ferry terminal. Despite the footpath and kerb ramps being removed, this remains a very obvious and well-worn pedestrian desire line.
Your petitioners therefore request that Brisbane City Council reinstate the footpath along the northern side of Boundary Street in Fortitude Valley between Ivory Street and Ivory Lane. We also ask that kerb ramps at Boundary Street be reinstated so that people crossing Boundary Street at the most convenient point do not have to step up and down the kerbs on either side.
