Residents draw to the attention of the need for a wildlife crossing sign on Archer Street, Gumdale, between New Cleveland Road and Formosa Road. There is a small creek near the road that attracts the native wood ducks, pacific black ducks as well as other native wildlife. Cars that are turning into and out of Archer Street at the recommended speed often are confronted with these families of ducks, etc. on the road. Without a warning sign, residents have often witnessed the fatalities of the native animals or near misses from more caring motorists who stop suddenly in order to prevent such incidents.
Your petitioners therefore request a wildlife crossing sign on both sides of the road for motorists both entering and exiting Archer Street. I feel this may prevent both the lives of our native wildlife which is already under threat in our area, as well as possibly deter motor vehicle incidents for those attempting to avoid wildlife on this road.
