We have a lovely off-leash dog park located on Hedley Avenue in Nundah which is visited by dozens of dogs every day! However, unfortunately it is not fenced. Many of the owners are worried about the safety of their dogs as it is surrounded by busy roads and also bush lands which house dangers such as brown snakes. We feel that it is not safe for our dogs and would feel much more at ease if the area was fenced. This would allow the dogs to play freely and also for us owners to feel that our furry friends are safe.

We request that the Nundah dog park be fenced. It is already authorised as an off-leash park, however it makes little sense to have an off-leash park with the boundary ending mere metres from deadly hazards.

Council response

Thank you for your petition requesting that Council fence the dog off-leash area in Albert Bishop Park, Nundah.

Council has completed an onsite investigation and considered your request.

I am pleased to advise that Council will undertake community consultation for the installation of fencing around the dog off-leash area in Albert Bishop Park, Nundah.

Thank you for raising this matter.
