The local residents draw to the attention of Councillor Huang the need for lighting in the Settler Street Park. We ask that the Council provide lighting for safety and security to this central neighbourhood park. The play equipment has been defaced under the cover of darkness and there are times at night when those who are less than desirable hang around the children’s play area. With so many young family counting on this park for recreation we feel it’s important to reduce the risks of safety and security of this great asset.
Your petitioners therefore requests that electric lights be erected in the park.
Thank you for your petition requesting that Council install lighting in Settler Street Park, Eight Mile Plains.
Council has completed an onsite investigation and considered your request.
Council undertook a safety audit of Settler Street Park, Eight Mile Plains, in November 2018 seeking recommendations for park lighting. The report will be completed by the end of January 2019 and should park lighting be recommended, a park lighting design and construction will be listed for consideration as part of Council’s capital works program. The request has also been forwarded to Councillor Steven Huang, Councillor for MacGregor Ward, for consideration as part of the Ward Footpath and Parks Trust Fund program.
Thank you for raising this matter.
