Residents draw to the attention of the Council the lack of safe crossings on Montague Rd, between Jane St and Mollison St, West End. This section of road has very high traffic of vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians, with many businesses within this section of street that pedestrians are accessing at all hours of the day, particularly during peak hour traffic times, mornings, after school and evenings. These pedestrians do not have anywhere safe to cross Montague Rd, except for Jane St, Mollison St and the only pedestrian crossing at Brereton St which has very minimal foot traffic. There are also bus stops between Anthony St and Donkin St which have no safe crossing for pedestrians to access, resulting in people entering and exiting the buses to run across the street.
This petition therefore requests that at least one pedestrian crossing be placed between Anthony St and Donkin St where the majority of pedestrians are crossing to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.
