Residents draw to the attention of Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner the removal of bus stop 4978: Milsom St at Bottomley Park, stop 22/23, Norman Park (inbound) as part of Council's Bus Stop Accessibility Improvement Program (BSAIP). This stop was removed without any consultation with the community or local Councillor Kara Cook (Morningside).
Your petitioners express their support for a bus stop at this location and therefore request bus stop 4978: Milsom St at Bottomley Park, stop 22/23, Norman Park (inbound) be immediately reinstated with shelter.
Thank you for your petitions requesting the inbound bus stop 4978, located at Milsom Street at Bottomley Park, Norman Park (ID 22/23), be immediately reinstated by Council with a shelter.
Council proposed to remove the inbound bus stop 4978 'Bottomley Park - 22/23' on Milsom Street near Frank Street as the inbound bus stop 4980 'Milsom Street - 24' was located less than 170 metres away at 155 Milsom Street and the express bus P211 currently services both bus stops.
Due to a miscommunication with Council’s appointed contractor, the removal of bus stop 4978 commenced before appropriate consultation with bus users occurred. However, when this issue was identified, the bus stop marker (J-pole) was reinstalled at this bus stop on 11 June 2019.
Notification signs were installed on 20 June 2019 to seek feedback on the proposed bus stop removal, with the consultation period closing on 18 July 2019.
Council reviewed all feedback received regarding the proposed bus stop removal and has decided not to proceed with the removal of inbound bus stop 4978. Bus stop 4978 will be upgraded and the shelter will be reinstated under Council's Bus Stop Accessibility Improvement Program.
Thank you for raising this matter.
