Members of our local community have approached me to move the Traffic Lights on Dawson Parade, near Casey St, further north closer to the new carpark and school entrance. This would improve access to the school for students, but also increase safety for people seeking to use the Arana Club and fields. A new set of traffic lights between the northern end of Grovely State School and Arana Leagues Club would:
• Ensure students from Grovely State School can cross Dawson Parade at peak times
• Regulating traffic movements along Dawson Parade so as to not block traffic on side streets wanting to enter Dawson Parade at peak times
• Assist with sporting traffic using Kev McKell Oval on weekends, and
• Avoiding potential future car accidents.
Safety for pedestrians is very important and school students on their way to and from school must be a major priority in our part of the city. Grovely State School boasts an enrolment over 400 students with a great reputation throughout the north west of Brisbane and these works will go a long way to making our area even safer. Highlighting strong community support for the traffic light installation will help progress this major project to becoming a reality.
Council moving the traffic lights nearer to the new car park and entrances to both Grovely State School and Arana Leagues Club.
