Residents draw to the attention of Council requests from the late Brentyn Glenn "Rollo" Rollason's family and friends for a park in the Morningside Ward to be named after Rollo. A specific request has been made for Scott St Park in Norman Park to be named "Rollo Park" in memory of Rollo. Rollo was a local musician, concert promoter and employee of Brisbane City Council. Having played in punk bands since the early 80s, Rollo formed Blowhard in 1989 while living in the inner south-eastern suburbs close to this park. Blowhard toured frequently along Australia's East Coast and became the third ever Brisbane punk bank to play overseas, with a 1996 tour of Japan and Europe. Rollo's talent as a concert promoter also gave many iconic Brisbane acts their start, including Custard, Powderfinger and Regurgitator. Rollo was also employed in Council's civil works area for 16 years (until his untimely passing in April 2019) where he proudly helped build a better Brisbane. This park naming would reflect his commitment to our City and location reflects both Rollo's passion for the wildlife of the inner Southside Creeks, and the countless boat-cruise concerts Rollo and Blowhard played on the nearby Brisbane River for over thirty years.
Your petitioners therefore request that Scott St Park, Norman Park be named "Rollo Park" in memory of Brentyn Glenn "Rollo" Rollason.
