Residents draw to the attention of Brisbane City Council the congestion and lack of infrastructure surrounding Oxley Road and Sherwood Road (between Sherwood and Rocklea). Our local councillor states that this has been brought to councils attention but as no progress has been made, the residents would like direct feedback as to future plans for our roads. A bus depot at Sherwood has seen no extra services for our area. There is more traffic in our area and no regular buses travelling between Oxley and Graceville, which would reduce the amount of parents on the roads at school collection/drop off times. The state of Sherwood Road between Sherwood and Rocklea is appalling and the impact of large vehicle traffic in this area should see double lanes as a top priority. Promoting traffic down Sherwood Road may also reduce the flow of traffic under the Corinda Rail line which has not been widened after repeated proposals.

Your petitioners therefore request that you speak directly to the local residents as to planning safer roads in our area. Development Applications in our area shall not be considered without an impact statement for traffic and local congestion. Developments attached to an Industrial Zone should also have a minimum area of road quality (eg double lanes) surrounding the development before any DA can be considered.
